Windows Live Messenger for iOS provides an easy way to keep in touch with your buddies on the Windows Live network.
What can you do with Windows Live Messenger for iOS?
The application gives you access to both Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Mail. When you launch the app, a Facebook-style friend feed is displayed known as Social. This shows things like your buddies' latest activities, photos that have been uploaded, and status messages.
The user interface in Windows Live Messenger for iOS is very clean and easy to use. There are four tabs at the bottom of the screen for getting around the app. Further to the Social tab, there are sections for Friends, Chats and Photos.
Inside Windows Live Messenger
The Friends menu in Windows Live Messenger is very underwhelming. It's not possible to manage groups or sort friends based on their status. What's more, the green border that appears around a buddy's icon when they're online is very subtle and not easily visible.
Windows Live Messenger's Chat interface is a lot more user friendly, however. Conversations are logged in a very plain and clear manner. Text is displayed in speech bubbles either on the right or the left of the screen, depending on who is talking. You can liven up your chats by choosing from almost 100 emoticons included in the app.
Photos can be shared via chat in Windows Live Messenger, either directly from the camera, by selecting them from your device, or from your online space. There's even a simple tool for adding photo effects such as sepia, color blur, glamor, and vibrant.
Windows Live Messenger for iOS still lacks a lot of the features of the desktop version of Live Messenger, such as the ability to send files, edit contacts, add video, etc.
Nevertheless, Windows Live Messenger provides a comfortable and quick way to chat with your buddies on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.
